In pursuit of colour...
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 4:00PM The royal mail man was late today. Poo. But it's ok because he delivered my package. This is what I got:
This is the Mehron Paradise AQ palette in Pastel and a colour wheel from The Color Wheel Company. Now I know it doesn't look like much but I am so excited right now. These two products will be great additions to my professional kit as well and using them for myself.
The Mehron palette is actually water-activated face paint. Clown make-up :) It retails for £21 from Facepaint UK. Now the reason I bought this palette is because these paints make brilliant eyeshadow bases for your make-up and sometimes we chocolate sisters have a tough time getting colour to show up on our eyes. This palette is a God-send. I've actually done a look today with the pink in this palette and the lime green in the Tropical palette that I already have. Check it out:
It looks like I have yellow on my eyes but I promise it's lime green! Anyhoo! The colour wheel was purchased to help me with colour combinations for eyes as well as which corretors to use to conceal undereye circles in different colours.
So for example if you have dark blue under eye circles, orange which is the complementary colour from blue on the colour wheel will neutralise it. If you have purple undertones that need covering, yellow deals with that and if you suffer from redness, the colour green sorts you out good and proper! It's like being in art school all over again! I love it!
So the look I did today was inspired by the colour combination I've seen a few times of lime green and hot pink. It's extra vibrant. Very fun and you gotta be confident to wear it. Cause it could all potentially go wrong! When I started wearing make-up I never used to think that I couldn't wear colour on my eyes. In fact, the very first eyeshadows that I bought for myself were a vibrant green, hot pink and a purple from Barry M. I guess that was aided by the fact that my mom wore bright colours all the time when I was young. But as I grew up and met other chocolate sisters I realised that so many of us are afraid of colour. It's anything from "I don't think it'll look good on me" to "Ain't no way I'm gonna be looking like a clown with that on my eyes". So this is for all my chocolate sisters who are afraid but secretly wanna rock some bangin' colour. Take a step of faith girls! Colour was made for you...
**Accidental cut crease...but I don't mind :D**
I'm not out to be some revolutionary in eye make-up. I just wanted to encourge you UK ladies again cause I'm sure if you're reading other beauty blogs you hear it all the time. Scandalous Beauty is definitely one lady who's all for promoting colour. There are so many products that are available to us over here that most of us aren't even aware of but trust once you get going there aint no turning back!
