MyFaceCosmetics Blusher Review: Med/Dark Range

MyFaceCosmetics is a make-up brand by celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury that was launched in October 2008. I happened to discover it during my regular make-up trips to Boots. I played with a few of the items and my first purchase from the line was a blush called "Her name is Rio". It is, to this day, by far, my favorite blush. MAC's Ambering Rose is a close second. It gives me an amazing glow that other blushes don't quite give.

Charlotte Tilbury's make-up line is designed to make it easier for you to pick colours that suit your skin tone. The range is comprised of three complete colour ranges. There one for fair skin, one for medium skin and a third for med/dark skin. Each range carries 3 foundations, 3 concealers, 3 powder, 3 blushers, several lipsticks and lipglosses that will suit your particular skin tone. Now personally I think it's quite hard to box the entire women's population of the United Kingdom into only 9 different skin tones. There are so so many different skin tones out there. I carry over 60 foundations in my kit and there are times when I still need to mix foundations to suit someones skin tone. However that being said their eyeshadows and blushers can be used across the board. Depends on what look you're going for.

I own the 3 blushes from the Med/Dark range.

Left to right: Night Fever, Her name is Rio, Sul"Tan of Swing

If you're a packaging fiend you'll probably find these pretty. I wouldn't know what to say otherwise. As long as it works I'm good...

They all come with these cheek brushes which I think I cheap. I don't keep them cause they just don't do the job. Use a proper blush brush and you're good to go.

Swatchville: Night Fever, Her name is Rio, Sul"Tan of Swing

The Good

*Very Smooth blushes: They glide onto the skin like a dream
*Good pigmentation: Night fever is the most pigmented of the lot. It's the blush I'm wearing in my Addicted to Fuchsia post
*Good lasting power: These rarely fade for me. Especially Night Fever. On WOC they are gorgeous.
*Reflective packaging: If you need to use this on the go you can check yourself using just the outside as well and the mirror inside. Convenient for those that do make-up on the go

The Bad

*Very soft formulation: You gotta be careful. These can get dusty if you aren't careful. The formulation means you could end up with some of it down the front of your top!
*Limited Range: I would love to see more than 9 blush shades however for a highstreet brand they are doing very well so depends on how you see it.
*A little expensive: These retail for £9.78 for 8 grams of product from Boots. [1g less than a MAC MSF if you want to make a comparison] Another £6 or so and you got a MAC Blush.

Conclusions

These blushes are gorgeous overall. I think they are amongst the best on the highstreet. Night Fever is a HOT colour! Honestly it gives you that "I've just been snogged by a FYNE man" look! Very rosey and uber sexy. Sul"tan of Swing is a beautiful highlight colour. If you're just wanting to look naturally glowy, this is it. You could wear it without foundation and people will compliment you on your radiance. My favorite, Her name is Rio, is one of those blushes you could wear with just about any make-up look. There's very little you can't wear with Miss Rio. Its a great go to colour for a healthy look.

Check them out. You might find something you like. If you do, let me know!

Stay Blessed xxx

Nice! I'll have to look out for these - I don't think I've seen them in any of the Boots stores that I frequent :o( Are they usually in with the other brands or in the premium sections?

Thanks for this, will definitely check these out. I've seen them once in store I think, and not my local one. My Boots needs to expand the range it carries seriously. Doesn't even have the Revlon Matte lipsticks in *sigh*

They look terrific, I like he packaging. Night Fever looks beautiful. I guess I'm the only one that keeps the brushes in makeup compacts but don't use them...lol!!
