Kryolan Invisible Matt plus SPF review

I am always on the look out for a good face primer. There are few that work really well on my face because I am super oily. With that being said, I still continue to try and buy primers because they might not work on me but they might work for a client in the future. Everyone wins.

This primer comes in a 15ml sturdy container:-

This primer retails for £11.50. Don't balk at the price. You don't need that much to deal with your face. The size of a pea should do you just fine. It has the consistency of a whipped eye cream and has a slight scent (though for some people it may be stronger. I'm not too bothered by scents). It's quite light. Not heavy at all. On darker skins it leaves a slight white cast when you first apply it because of the SPF but once you put your foundation on it disappears altogether.

On combination/oily skins this primer will mattify your skin when you first put it on. It dries to a slightly tacky finish. Great for grabbing foundation. However in my experience it only lasts for about 3 hours. So if you're going somewhere for a couple of hours and it's not hot and humid, as an oily girl you could get away with this. Past about 3 hours you'd be pushing it.

On normal to dry skins this will keep you nicely matt without drying your skin out completely. Expect it to last for about 6 hours. In some cases you don't need to touch up at all. At the end of the day it is dependent on how your skin takes it.

Overall I think this primer works better than a lot of primers out there. It's definitely worth trying out if you're looking for something a little bit stronger. On Normal/Dry skins it works fabulously. It's definitely good enough to go into my kit. Stockists for this product vary but I do know that you can definitely get it at Charles Fox in London. Google is your friend. You might find it cheaper on eBay or another site.

YSL Matt Touch by Yves Saint Laurent Beauty

What they say:-

MATT TOUCH
What it is: An oil-free makeup base designed to minimize shine while maintaining the skin's natural radiance.

What it does: Yves Saint Laurent MATT TOUCH is an exceptional pre-makeup base that has it all: it smoothes and refines the skin's texture, provides the complexion with a radiant matte finish, and optimizes the wear of makeup. It's enriched with skincare benefits to protect and soothe the skin.

What else you need to know: MATT TOUCH can also be used for touch ups on areas that tend to become shiny during the day, and enhances the wear of foundation. It's formulated for all skin types and is non-comedogenic.

Ingredients:-

1 oz:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Cyclomethicone, Isododecane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polyvinylalcohol Crosspolymer, Ci 77019 (Mica), Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydroxyapatite, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Fragrance, Polydodecanamideaminium Triazadiphenylethenesulfonate, Zinc Oxide.

My thoughts:-

YSL Matte Touch has been in my kit for a very long time. I use A LOT of the stuff (hence the 3 empties above!) I like it a lot and when you understand how it works it's great for your kit.

I know that YSL doesn't specify what kind of skin type this primer is for but hear me when I say it's NOT for oily girls. I am an oily girl and I have long stopped using it on myself. It just doesn't hold up with my oily skin. That being said, people with dry and normal skin will like this product a whole lot more.

When ever I have a bride with dry or normal skin, this is my go-to-primer. I don't even think twice about it. It gives an amazing canvas for you to work on and the foundation will stay put for most of the day.

The texture of this primer is very silky and as you blend it into the skin it leaves a very smooth powdery finish. Matt Touch has a tendency to ball up as you work it into the face however a little massage gets rid of that real quickly. If the clumping is really an issue for you I find that stippling the primer with a foundation brush into the skin helps it absorb better.

This primer contains no SPF and as a result it doesn't affect the look of one's foundation in photographs which is always a bonus. Personally I am not fussed on smell and even then, this product is pretty odourless to me so it shouldn't be an irritant.

It's a little on the pricey side, retailing at about £28 in most department stores however you can get it for much less online if you shop around. If you're looking for a little bit of luxury in a squeezy tube, this could be it.

Review - My Skin: No Shine Mattifying Moisture Lotion

Moisturiser is just one of those items that is a non negotiable. It can also quickly become a mission to find one that works for your skin type. 2 months ago I ran out of my previous moisturiser and picked one up whilst doing my weekly shop in Tesco's. It's called "My Skin: No Shine Mattifying Moisture Lotion". This particular moisturiser is geared toward teenage skin. Trust, I didn't notice that little bit when I bought it!

What does it contain:

It is oil-free and It has 2 yummy ingredients which are Kiwi and Raspberry extract as well as Cimicifuga extract [which is a plant with several medicinal purposes]. It does not contain any parabens. It has a strong smell but it's a lovely fruity smell. It's not overpowering and once its on your face it does fade.

What does it claim to do:

It claims to soften and hydrate skin. The Kiwi extract helps moisturise while raspberry extract helps to stimulate and condition leaving the skin soft and smooth. Cimicifuga extract helps to control excess oil and shine.

How much does it cost:

Last time I check this was £1.99 but do check with your local Tesco as it might be cheaper with the January sales and all..... :)

How did it work for me:

I am an oily girl. And have been for a long time. After using this moisturiser for about 2 months -[which is a fair trial in my books!] it has made it easier for me to control my skin. It is a very good mattifyier and when you just want radiant looking skin with no make-up this stuff is the bizness. My skin isn't as oily anymore at the end of the day so the Cimicifuga is definitely doing something!

Underneath a full face of make-up it also does a pretty good job. Depending on what you're using, you could pass up on a face primer, which, for a lot of oil girls, is quite important. The fact that it's formulated for teenage skin is neither here nor there. I'm 25 and it's worked brilliantly for me. How can you go wrong for £1.99? The price is definitely worth it. If you're oily, try it. It might work for you too. If you're normal to dry this could still work for you as a face primer if you're wanting a more matte look to your skin.
