Caraline

Hi Guys,

I wanted to share some pictures of one of my shoots recently with a cool guy called Martin Smith. I clocked Martin a little while ago but I've only just recently gotten the chance to work with him. I'm chuffed to bits about my new pics and thought it would be nice to show them to you. The model was a lovely girl called Caraline. Up and coming and rather photogenic me thinks! Enjoy.... x

Esther: Born for such a time as this...

Esther is gorgeous. Very sweet and rather funny. A friend from church who agreed to pose for me. She's getting married in July to a wonderful dude named Mark and I'll be doing her make-up. This wasn't her bridal trial. I just wanted to play with her face!

As a make-up artist, it is always a pleasure when someone gives you free reign on their face. She did just that. She chatted through the whole encounter but we had a fabulous time in the end!

I used some Inglot eyeshadow on her and I have to say I am still not convinced by these. I know everyone raves about them but I am very much on the fence about them. My Yaby eyeshadows definitely do and exceed the job required.

Graftobian is definitely set as one of my favourite pro brands and their creme blush is fabulous. The glow it gives is gorgeous!

I'm still addicted to my OCC liptars. They are a must in anyones professional kit. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I'm off to bed. Hope you're all good!!!

Rock Chick inspired shoot

I was on a shoot the other day for a "Rock Chick" inspired look and I got some behind the scenes pictures taken for me. Please excuse my concentration face. I can't help it! It helps me get through the process better!

darn that concentration face!

My model had great skin and fabulous lashes. No falses needed really. A bit of light contouring and heavy eyes and we were good to go. And yes, I was bare faced on set. Sometimes I don't have time to do my face up so au naturelle has to do!

Viola! Had fun. Waiting for the pro shots to come through. I love my job! Praise God.

Portfolio shoot: Janette

Janette was lovely to work with. Great skin, striking features, excellent model. I am super chuffed at the result! My photographer David Armour from Focal Point Photography was pretty awesome. If you are based in the North East, UK and you're looking for an excellent photographer check out his website. He has some stunning work. He's very chilled and I felt totally at ease working with him. I hope to work with him again soon cause he's really talented!

Used OCC, Kryolan, Graftobian, MAC

Every shoot I do these days means I learn something new. They are all very engaging and I am thrilled each time I feel like my skill is going up a level. I found a great photographer and I'm praying we'll be able to work again real soon! I got to try a few new methods this time around which I think resulted in a really good beauty shot for Janette. I continue to work on my brow game. I'm trying to perfect the whole "groomed but natural" look. Much much harder than it looks!

A little birdie told me once that Clean beauty is the way to go in building a strong portfolio. I know I broke the rules a bit by using colour on the lips but I'm happy. More clean beauty!

A shoot with Emelda.

This whole shoot came about because I liked Emelda's style. As a make-up artist I look at  my friends and colleagues sometimes and want to capture an aspect of someone's personality and bring it out with make-up. Kinda weird but that is essentially what we did with Emelda. She's bold. Kooki. Random and rather Fabulous. She's never modelled before but for a novice I think she nailed it.

Our photographer is a young gentleman called Nicholas Gray. He was recommended to me by a friend on twitter. He was interested and voila! We had a photoshoot. I really think he did well considering he only ever shoots in studio and I am so please at how it all came out!

I'm having a blast portfolio building. It's teaching me a lot. And it's generated some future prospects too. Praise God for he constantly supplies for my need!
